The year of being creative
Lowell Fashion Show.
And a beautiful model.
I haven’t sewn all the little flowers on or the tulle at the bottom. I am still thinking about it and still having fun.

I have been working a bit on the shawl. It is made of old lace and the sleeves of the dress that I dyed black. The sleeves were then cut up and braided. The braids are attached to the shawl and a button covers up the stitching. I think I like it.
Well I have been working on the dress a lot. I have an old crinoline that works well under the dress, but it was so white that it looked like a mistake. My daughter kept telling me I needed to dye it. It is nylon and I do do not have a place to dye inside (most of my dying I do in the yard and it is way too cold lately). I only do tea and coffee dying in my kitchen sink. Everything I read on line about dying nylon with tea is that it streaked and didn’t work very well. I thought all that can happen is it looks terrible and somehow I could fix it. So I filled the sink with hot tea, a little coffee, vinegar and a tad of dish soap. I am happy to report the crinoline looks great. I should have photographed the crinoline when it was still white so you could see how well it took to the dye.

I am working on a dress for the Revolving Museum in Lowell Ma. They gave me a muslin long sleeved dress and I am converting it into a wearable piece of art. I am having a blast. So far I have dyed old lace black, but it looks like a black purple. I tea dyed the muslin which I love and now I am working on changing the overall look.
The pictures are just ideas I have been playing with. Keep scrolling to see the photos.

Dyed lace. Still thinking. I

One lucky mom.
Tonight was the opening reception for at the Essex Art Center for the Merrimack Valley Camera Club and Ron Zahab’s Holograms, and for me this month’s community artist. I was so happy with how my pieces looked, the lighting was wonderful and the way Cathy hung the pieces made them look really beautiful.
Here is a picture of my scroll that is at the Essex Art Center with the Kimono. Not a great picture or the whole thing, but you get the idea .
